Itinerary

As with many countries, it would be unthinkable to imagine visiting France in one trip. At PAX L’UX we promote the journey that allows discovery

Welcome at Nice airport and transfer to your hotel.

Dinner on your own. We recommend the restaurant “le Panier”. Le Panier, near Cours Saleya, offers a unique dining experience in four distinct ambiances, including the newly added Myanmar room. Reservations are recommended. Chef Aurélien Martin’s highlights include gravlax trout, sea bream fillet, and venison filet mignon. The attentive service provides detailed explanations for each dish, and the wine list features natural and biodynamic selections. We book for you.

PALAIS SALEYA HOTEL 4**** (suite) Located in the heart of Nice, the Palais Saleya is a charming boutique hotel that perfectly blends contemporary luxury with historical elegance. Situated within a beautifully restored 18th-century building, this hotel offers guests an intimate and stylish retreat just steps away from the vibrant Cours Saleya market and the picturesque Old Town. The spacious, modern suites and apartments are thoughtfully designed with a focus on comfort and convenience, making it an ideal choice for both short stays and extended visits. With its prime location and warm, welcoming atmosphere, the Palais Saleya promises an unforgettable experience on the French Riviera.

Breakfast.

Accompanied by your guide, start the day with a visit to the Cours Saleya market, a vibrant and colorful open-air market offering a wide variety of fresh produce, flowers, and local specialties. Stroll through the aisles and indulge in the scents and flavors of Provence.

Next, delve into the history of Old Nice by walking through its picturesque streets lined with pastel-colored buildings. Admire the charming architecture and soak in the lively atmosphere of this historic district.

Lunch on your own. We recommend the restaurant “Olive & Artichaut”. Originally from Nice, the chef settled in the region with his Breton wife after several experiences abroad. He highlights local products in a very indulgent cuisine, “between sea and mountains”: thin tart in the style of pissaladière with roasted black pudding, chickpea cream, chocolate and hazelnut praline tart… We book for you.

Continue your cultural exploration by visiting the Matisse Museum, which houses an impressive collection of works by Henri Matisse. This museum is located in a magnificent 17th-century villa and provides an ideal setting to admire the work of this master of modern art, a major 20th-century artist.

Then, climb up to Castle Hill to enjoy a breathtaking panoramic view of Nice and the Mediterranean Sea. Also explore the historic ruins of the old fortress overlooking the city.

End your day with a visit to the Saint Nicholas Cathedral, a gem of neoclassical architecture. Admire the cathedral’s sumptuous interior and discover its rich historical heritage.

Transfer to the hotel.

For dinner we recommend the restaurant “Bistro d’Antoine”. It’s the Southern accent that sings in this friends’ bistro, where a very convivial atmosphere reigns. In the kitchen, it’s a whirlwind of activity! On the palate, only the best: an old-fashioned pork casserole with creamy polenta, knife-cut tartare, or grilled veal kidney with whole-grain mustard and parsleyed new potatoes… Packed, you say? Antoine enjoys well-deserved success. We book for you.

Overnight at the hotel Palais Saleya.

Breakfast.

Departure to Saint-Paul-de-Vence, a medieval gem perched on a hill that captivates visitors with its timeless charm and cultural richness. Nestled between Nice and Cannes, this picturesque village offers a breathtaking view of the Mediterranean and the surrounding mountains. Its cobblestone streets, lined with stone houses and flower-filled façades, invite leisurely strolls and the discovery of art galleries, craft shops, and lively cafés. Saint-Paul-de-Vence is also renowned for its historic ramparts, medieval church, and cemetery where famous artists such as Marc Chagall rest. History and culture enthusiasts will be delighted by a visit to the Modern Art Museum (Maeght Fondation) and the many contemporary art exhibitions throughout the village. Finally, gourmets can savor refined Provençal cuisine in the Michelin-starred restaurants of Saint-Paul-de-Vence, where regional gastronomy is showcased.

For lunch, we recommend the restaurant at the Maeght Foundation “under the pines”.

The afternoon will be dedicated to discovering Grasse, the French capital of perfumery.

After a guided walk through the old town with its Italian and Provençal atmosphere, we will head to the Fragonard perfumery for a 1.5-hour workshop where everyone will create their own perfume with the guidance of a master perfumer. At the end of this workshop, you will leave with your creation in a personalized 100ml elegant bottle.

For dinner we recommend the restaurant “Peixes Bonaparte”. Between Place Garibaldi and Old Nice, the little brother of Peixes Opéra also boasts a large terrace, highly popular during the warmer months! The winning formula is well-known: a variety of seafood dishes (fish, tataki, sashimi, acras, oysters) and ceviche specialties. The contemporary bistro setting, with its marine blue and white decor, evokes Portugal and Greece. Behind the counter, a mixologist crafts cocktails. We book for you.

Overnight at the hotel Palais Saleya.

This service includes a guided tour of the “La Fabrique des Fleurs” factory. The tour invites you to discover the key stages of perfume making, supported by the most modern production tools. The visit to the packaging workshops allows you to witness the transformation of fragrant products from the factory into refined products ready to be marketed to enthusiasts. In addition to the production lines, it houses the laboratory where raw materials are mixed after analysis to obtain the concentrates of future perfumes.

Return to Nice via Cannes, which has become the city of cinema since 1939. The Cannes Film Festival is now a globally resonant name. Admire the Palais des Festivals, its iconic steps, and its famous red carpet. A short walk along the “Croisette,” Cannes’ famous boulevard, allows for a coffee break on a terrace facing the Mediterranean Sea.

Breakfast.

Departure to Monaco by boat to admire the rich French Riviera from the sea with the majestic Alps on the horizon. Visit the famous Monte Carlo Casino, designed by Charles Garnier in 1879. The Monte Carlo Casino is as magnificent as it is prestigious. A Belle Époque-style gaming haven, it has made many players in the principality wealthy, but it is also renowned for the beauty of its salons. Don’t miss the opera-theater, which is truly worth a look.

Lunch on your own.

Visit the Oceanographic Museum. With its immense aquarium housing 6,000 varieties of marine life, the Oceanographic Museum is a treasure for any lover of marine fauna and flora. Founded by Prince Albert I in 1910, it offers a breathtaking plunge into the oceans, uncovering all its mysteries. The Lagoon, a true coral reef recreated within the museum, is the cherry on top of a visit you won’t regret.

Continue to discover the Prince’s Palace. Visiting Monaco requires a mandatory stop at the Prince’s Palace. The official residence of the prince since 1927, the Palace of Monaco overlooks the Mediterranean and perfectly expresses the grandeur of the Grimaldi family. This building has a fascinating history and was besieged and bombarded by many foreign armies. It also symbolizes the principality’s influence on the Côte d’Azur. Enjoy the changing of the prince’s guards, a ceremony meticulously timed.

Return to your hotel Palais Saleya. Dinner on your own in the many restaurants in the old town and overnight at the hotel. We recommend the restaurant la Merinda near your hotel.  A quaint, old-fashioned restaurant with charming simplicity… Dominique Le Stanc prepares delightful regional dishes here (pissaladière, Niçoise tripe, stockfish, Swiss chard pie, lemon tart, etc.) to be enjoyed elbow-to-elbow. Note, no phone reservations: you must visit in person to book a table.

Breakfast.

Departure to the charming town of Moustiers-Sainte-Marie through the Alps and its beautiful mountainous landscapes. Known for its artisanal pottery and spectacular natural setting, Moustiers-Sainte-Marie consists of steep streets and stone houses that offer an authentic medieval charm, while its famous star suspended between two cliffs proudly overlooks the valley. Visitors can stroll through pottery shops, visit local artisans’ workshops, and admire the waterfalls surrounding the village. With its quaint restaurants and breathtaking views of Lake Sainte-Croix and the surrounding mountains, it’s a must-see destination.

Lunch on your own in the many restaurants in the village.

Depart to discover the Verdon Gorges, nicknamed the “Grand Canyon” of Europe, a natural wonder and the deepest gorges in Europe. These impressive gorges carved by the Verdon River offer breathtaking landscapes, with towering cliffs plunging into turquoise waters. You can also observe vultures and the Golden Eagle.

From June 15 to July 15, pass through the lavender fields of the Valensole plateau to admire these incredible and fragrant landscapes.

Wine tasting at a winery owned by one of the greatest film directors. “Mas des Infermières”, the prestigious vineyard owned by Ridley Scott in the heart of the Luberon, offers a unique experience. Savor exceptional wines (reds, whites, rosés) made from noble grape varieties while admiring an exclusive exhibition of costumes from Ridley Scott’s iconic films, such as Alien, Gladiator, and Blade Runner…

Continue to Gordes and Lunch on your own. We recommend the restaurant “Le Mas”. While the old farmhouse seems timeless, Alexis Osmont’s market-inspired cuisine is all about spontaneity. Let yourself be swept away “blindly” into his creative and flavorful world, which playfully showcases the treasures of Vaucluse: asparagus, chanterelles, artichokes… We book for you.

Visit Gordes and the Village of Bories, which showcases the art of shepherds’ stone huts.

Continue to visit the magnificent Sénanque Abbey. Founded in 1148, it is a Cistercian gem nestled in the heart of Provence. Surrounded by lavender fields, this medieval abbey offers a peaceful and contemplative atmosphere. Discover its Romanesque architecture, gardens, and the monastic life of the monks who still reside there.

Continue to l’Isle-sur-la-Sorgue, a charming small town known for its waterwheels on the river that flows through it. It is also a city dedicated to antique dealers. People come from all over the world to find rare treasures…

One leaves delighted, with an Italian accent. We book for you.

Visit this ancient city of the Popes, a city with a rich historical heritage located on the banks of the Rhône River. Dominated by the majestic Palace of the Popes, the city offers a dive into medieval history. Discover the famous bridge of Avignon and explore the charming streets and old buildings of the old town. Visit the Palace of the Popes.

Dinner on your own. We recommend the restaurant “Bibendum”. At the heart of this beautiful historic building full of character (a former cloister), you’ll find a restaurant, a wine bar, and a cocktail bar, as well as a terrace in the inner courtyard, promising delightful summer evenings. The chef of the Michelin-starred restaurant Pollen, Mathieu Desmarest, designs the menu, while his wife Émilie orchestrates this festive and convivial project.
