Itinerary
Dhaulagiri Trek Nepal: 24 Days Daywise Itinerary
Day 1: Arrival in Kathmandu (1,400m)
- Arrive in Kathmandu, transfer to hotel, and relax.
Day 2: Kathmandu Sightseeing and Trek Preparation
- Guided sightseeing tour of Kathmandu’s UNESCO World Heritage sites (Pashupatinath Temple, Boudhanath Stupa, Swayambhunath, and Kathmandu Durbar Square). Trek preparation in the afternoon.
Day 3: Drive from Kathmandu to Beni (830m)
- Scenic drive from Kathmandu to Beni, the starting point of the trek (8-9 hours).
Day 4: Beni to Babiyachaur (950m)
- Trek along the Myagdi Khola river through terraced fields and small villages to reach Babiyachaur (5-6 hours).
Day 5: Babiyachaur to Dharapani (1,560m)
- Continue trekking through lush green valleys, crossing several small streams to Dharapani (6-7 hours).
Day 6: Dharapani to Muri (1,850m)
- Ascend through forested trails and pass through small settlements to reach Muri, a Magar village (6-7 hours).
Day 7: Muri to Boghara (2,080m)
- Trek through forests and terraced fields, with a few steep climbs and descents to Boghara (6-7 hours).
Day 8: Boghara to Dobang (2,520m)
- Continue trekking through dense forests, with views of the Dhaulagiri massif, to reach Dobang (5-6 hours).
Day 9: Dobang to Sallaghari (3,100m)
- Trek through alpine forests and cross glacial streams to reach Sallaghari, a forested campsite (5-6 hours).
Day 10: Sallaghari to Italian Base Camp (3,660m)
- Steady ascent to the Italian Base Camp, with close-up views of Dhaulagiri and other peaks (5-6 hours).
Day 11: Acclimatization Day at Italian Base Camp
- Rest day to acclimatize, with short hikes around the base camp and preparation for the higher altitude.
Day 12: Italian Base Camp to Glacier Camp (4,210m)
- Cross a challenging glacier section to reach the Glacier Camp (5-6 hours).
Day 13: Glacier Camp to Dhaulagiri Base Camp (4,740m)
- Trek through the glacier and moraine fields to Dhaulagiri Base Camp, with stunning views of Dhaulagiri I (6-7 hours).
Day 14: Acclimatization Day at Dhaulagiri Base Camp
- Another rest day for acclimatization, with optional short hikes around the base camp.
Day 15: Dhaulagiri Base Camp to French Pass (5,360m) to Hidden Valley (5,200m)
- Cross the challenging French Pass, and descend into the Hidden Valley (6-7 hours).
Day 16: Hidden Valley to Dhampus Pass (5,240m) to Yak Kharka (3,680m)
- Trek across the Dhampus Pass and descend to Yak Kharka, a high-altitude pasture (6-7 hours).
Day 17: Yak Kharka to Jomsom (2,720m)
- Descend through alpine meadows and forests to Jomsom, a major town in the Mustang region (5-6 hours).
Day 18: Jomsom to Tatopani (1,190m)
- Drive or trek to Tatopani, famous for its natural hot springs. Relax in the hot springs (5-6 hours trek or 4-5 hours drive).
Day 19: Tatopani to Ghorepani (2,860m)
- Ascend through terraced fields and rhododendron forests to Ghorepani (6-7 hours).
Day 20: Ghorepani to Poon Hill (3,210m) and Trek to Tadapani (2,630m)
- Early morning hike to Poon Hill for sunrise views over the Himalayas. Descend to Ghorepani for breakfast and then trek to Tadapani (6-7 hours).
Day 21: Tadapani to Ghandruk (1,940m)
- Trek through rhododendron forests and terraced fields to the Gurung village of Ghandruk (3-4 hours).
Day 22: Ghandruk to Nayapul, Drive to Pokhara
- Trek to Nayapul and drive back to Pokhara (4-5 hours trek, 1.5 hours drive).
Day 23: Drive from Pokhara to Kathmandu
- Drive back to Kathmandu (6-7 hours) or take a flight. Enjoy a farewell dinner in Kathmandu.
Day 24: Departure from Kathmandu
- Transfer to the airport for your departure flight.
