Itinerary

Detailed daywise itinerary for the Nar Phu Valley Trek in Nepal, spanning 16 days

Day 1: Arrival in Kathmandu (1,400m)

  • Arrive in Kathmandu, transfer to hotel, and relax.

Day 2: Kathmandu Sightseeing and Trek Preparation

  • Guided sightseeing tour of Kathmandu’s UNESCO World Heritage sites (Pashupatinath Temple, Boudhanath Stupa, Swayambhunath, and Kathmandu Durbar Square). Trek preparation in the afternoon.

Day 3: Drive from Kathmandu to Besisahar (760m)

  • Scenic drive from Kathmandu to Besisahar, the starting point of the trek (6-7 hours).

Day 4: Drive from Besisahar to Koto (2,610m)

  • Drive from Besisahar to Koto, passing through Dharapani and other villages along the way (6-7 hours).

Day 5: Trek from Koto to Meta (3,560m)

  • Trek through dense forests and alongside the Nar Phu Khola to reach Meta, a small settlement with panoramic mountain views (7-8 hours).

Day 6: Meta to Phu Gaon (4,080m)

  • Trek across suspension bridges and through traditional villages to reach Phu Gaon, a culturally rich village in the hidden valley (6-7 hours).

Day 7: Acclimatization Day in Phu Gaon

  • Explore Phu Gaon, visit the Tashi Lhakhang Monastery, interact with locals, and acclimatize.

Day 8: Phu Gaon to Nar (4,110m)

  • Descend to the Nar Phedi monastery and ascend to Nar village, another traditional settlement with stunning views (6-7 hours).

Day 9: Acclimatization Day in Nar

  • Explore Nar village, visit local monasteries, and interact with the locals to learn about their culture and way of life.

Day 10: Nar to Kang La Pass (5,320m) to Ngawal (3,660m)

  • Cross the challenging Kang La Pass with breathtaking views of the Annapurna range, then descend to Ngawal (7-8 hours).

Day 11: Ngawal to Manang (3,540m)

  • Trek through beautiful landscapes and along the Marsyangdi River to reach Manang, a popular stop on the Annapurna Circuit (4-5 hours).

Day 12: Manang to Yak Kharka (4,110m)

  • Ascend gradually to Yak Kharka, a pasture area with beautiful views and yak grazing lands (3-4 hours).

Day 13: Yak Kharka to Thorong Phedi (4,600m)

  • Continue the trek to Thorong Phedi, the base camp for crossing the Thorong La Pass (3-4 hours).

Day 14: Thorong Phedi to Thorong La Pass (5,416m) to Muktinath (3,800m)

  • Cross the Thorong La Pass, one of the highest trekking passes in the world, and descend to Muktinath, a sacred pilgrimage site (7-8 hours).

Day 15: Muktinath to Jomsom (2,720m)

  • Descend through Kagbeni to Jomsom, enjoying the dramatic landscape of the Mustang region (5-6 hours).

Day 16: Fly from Jomsom to Pokhara and then to Kathmandu

  • Take an early morning flight from Jomsom to Pokhara, followed by a connecting flight to Kathmandu. Relax and enjoy a farewell dinner in Kathmandu.
